The Tucson Roadrunners return to the TCC for the first time in 20 days for a two-game series against their California rival the Ontario Reign. The Roadrunners are coming off of their best Gem Show trip in team history in which they went 3-1-1-0 for seven of a possible 10 points. Tucson is currently in second place in the Pacific Division at 59 points behind Coachella Valley’s 62 and looks to stay on the Firebirds' tail in the standings. As for the Reign, they are 2-7-0-1 in their last 10 games, including a winless streak of five; and sit in the seventh and final spot in the Pacific Division playoff race.

Matthew Villalta recalled by the Arizona Coyotes

Tucson, Arizona- The Arizona Coyotes announced today that goaltender Matthew Villalta has been recalled to the Arizona Coyotes for his first NHL call-up of his career. Villalta becomes the 13th player who has been recalled this season from the Roadrunners to Coyotes.

DES MOINES, IA – The gem show in Tucson couldn’t give any overtime crystal magic to the Roadrunners as they fell 5-4 to the Iowa Wild to drop to 28-14-2-1 on the year from Des Moines, IA and finish off their gem show road trip going 3-1-1-0 and picking up seven of ten points on the road trip.

The Tucson Roadrunners finish off their five-game Gem Show Road trip with a game-two series matchup against the Iowa Wild. The Wild snapped Tucson’s four-game win streak and three-game road win streak with a 2-1 win on Friday and look for the sweep over the Roadrunners to extend their win streak to three. As for the Roadrunners, the team looks to get back on the winning track and keep its first-place spot in the Pacific Division as they are tied with Coachella Valley in points (58) and winning percentage (.659) but have two more wins with 28.

DES MOINES, IA – The Tucson Roadrunners fell to the Iowa Wild 2-1 Friday night to drop to 28-14-1-1 on the year from Des Moines, IA in a game that totaled 13 power-plays and several four-on-four situations.

The Tucson Roadrunners play their first game out of the All-Star Break and fourth-straight game on the road; while also bringing a four-game winning streak back to action. Tucson looks to match their season-high with a five-game win streak that they set December 20 to December 30 as well as their season high win streak on the road which is four. Tucson is 7-1-0-0 against Central Division opponents and last swept the Iowa Wild in two games back at the TCC on January 15 and January 17. As for the Minnesota Wild Affiliate, Iowa is currently in sixth place in the Central Division; having allowed 30 goals in the last five games which is six goals-against per-game.
