Wood to receive award Friday night

By: Alex Kinkopf
Prior to Friday night’s match-up against the Ontario Reign, which is scheduled for a 7:05 PM start at Tucson Arena, Roadrunners General Manager Doug Soetaert will present defenseman Kyle Wood with his Rookie of the Month award for October, which the American Hockey League, in conjunction with CCM, announced the 20-year old had won on Monday.
On Wednesday night, Wood extended his personal point streak to six games when Chris Mueller redirected his shot from the point past Texas’ Phillippe Desrosiers in the second period.
At the time of winning the award, Wood had accumulated eight points (2G, 6A) through the Roadrunners’ first five games of the season.
Wood’s nine points (2G, 7A) leading into Friday’s contest tie him second among defensemen in the American Hockey League, and first overall among rookies.
For the presentation, fans are encouraged to be at Tucson Arena and in their seats at 6:45 PM.
