December 19 practice notes; Players call

By: Alex Kinkopf

Good afternoon from Tucson Arena, where the team got back to work following Sunday’s travel home from San Antonio, and ahead of their two-game set with the Bakersfield Condors Tuesday and Wednesday night.

The club is coming off of a split with the Rampage, who they faced for the first time in franchise history over the weekend, winning 5-4 in OT on Friday night and falling 4-2 on Saturday.

Prior to practice, forward Mark Cooper and defenseman Dysin Mayo were assigned to the ECHL’s Rapid City Rush; neither player skated with the team Monday. Cooper, in four games with the Roadrunners, did not register a point, recorded three shots on goal, four penalty minutes, and a minus-three rating.

In total, 21 players were on the ice for the team, 19 skaters along with goaltenders Justin Peters and Marek Langhamer. It was just about as light as a practice can get. The team was on the ice for roughly 45 minutes before given the freedom to partake in personal drills.

Minor changes were made to the lines the team skated with over the weekend; Hunter Fejes popped up to the third line while Conor Garland skated with the fourth unit. Stefan Fournier, who has been out with a lower-body injury since December 3, skated in full.

The players aligned as such:

FORWARDS (COLOR CODED):
LAURENT DAUPHIN – CHRIS MUELLER – CHRISTIAN FISCHER
GARRET ROSS – MARK OLVER – TYLER GAUDET
MICHAEL BUNTING – RYAN MACINNIS – HUNTER FEJES
LINDSAY SPARKS – CONOR GARLAND – STEFAN FOURNIER – TREVOR CHEEK

DEFENSEMEN (BLACK):
JARRED TINORDI – ZBYNEK MICHALEK
DAKOTA MERMIS – JAMIE MCBAIN
BRANDON BURLON – KYLE WOOD

GOALTENDERS (BLACK):
JUSTIN PETERS
MAREK LANGHAMER

Following practice, a number of players stopped by the front offices to take part in a holiday initiative organized by the team’s ticket sales directors. The players called a set list of season ticket members to wish them a Happy Holidays.

Tuesday’s game against the Bakersfield Condors will feature News 4 Tucson’s ‘Season 4 Hope’ campaign with Kristi’s Kids on location along with charitable donation drives held by The Southern Arizona Food Bank and Goodwill Industries.
