CHECKING IN: Tonight marks the first of four meetings with the Checkers this season, and the first of two visits to Charlotte’s Bojangles’ Coliseum. The Checkers are playing the fifth of an eight-game home stand where they’ve posted a 2-1-1-0 record this far; they’re coming off of a 4-3 overtime loss to the Milwauke Admirals Wednesday night. The Roadrunners are playing the first of a two-game road trip; they’re coming off of a 4-1 win over the Ontario Reign Wednesday.
LINEUP: The Roadrunners held a morning skate at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in anticipation of tonight’s game. Forward Anthony Duclair, who was assigned to Tucson Thursday, and forward Laurent Dauphin, who was assigned to Tucson Friday, were both on the ice and will be in the lineup tonight. A final, hockey operations-approved lineup will be shared 30 minutes prior to puck-drop. Below is only a presumed crack at the team's alignment:
ANTHONY DUCLAIR – CHRIS MUELLER – MARK OLVER
LAURENT DAUPHIN – TYLER GAUDET – HENRIK SAMUELSSON
MICHAEL BUNTING – RYAN MACINNIS – CONOR GARLAND
HUNTER FEJES – TREVOR CHEEK – LINDSAY SPARKS
JARRED TINORDI – JAMIE MCBAIN
DAKOTA MERMIS – ANTHONY DEANGELO
ZBYNEK MICHALEK – KYLE WOOD
(DYSIN MAYO – BRANDON BURLON)
STAYING HOT: The Roadrunners enter the night riding the longest win streak in franchise history, having strung together five consecutive victories. Tucson slid back into first place in the Pacific Division following Wednesday night’s win over the Ontario Reign. Can the Roadrunners extend their streak with a victory over the Checkers tonight?
A DEBUT FOR DUCLAIR: Anthony Duclair will make his American Hockey League debut when he suits up for the Roadrunners tonight. Duclair jumped straight to the NHL with the New York Rangers after three-plus seasons with the QMJHL’s Quebec Ramparts. In 140 career NHL games, Duclair has totaled 60 points (24G, 36A). He will wear #12 with the Roadrunners.
