GULLS AGAIN: Tonight marks the fifth of 12 meetings with the Gulls this season, and the second of San Diego’s six scheduled visits to Tucson Arena. The Gulls are playing the third of a five-game road trip, where they’ve posted a 1-0-0-1 record thus far. The Roadrunners are playing the second of a five-game home stand; they’re coming off of an 8-1 loss to the Gulls on Wednesday night.
SNAP THE SKID: The Roadrunners have dropped their previous three games following their franchise-long five-game win streak. Can Tucson rebound with a win in their rematch against the Gulls tonight?
LINEUP: The team held a morning skate at Tucson Arena in anticipation of tonight’s game. Christian Fischer, who was assigned to the Roadrunners by the Coyotes Friday morning, was not with the team but is expected to be in the lineup tonight. Adin Hill is projected to make his 18th start of the season.
ANTHONY DUCLAIR - CHRIS MUELLER – CHRISTIAN FISCHER
MARK OLVER - TYLER GAUDET - HENRIK SAMUELSSON
MICHAEL BUNTING - RYAN MACINNIS - CONOR GARLAND
HUNTER FEJES - TREVOR CHEEK - LINDSAY SPARKS
JARRED TINORDI - JAMIE MCBAIN
ANTHONY DEANGELO - ZBYNEK MICHALEK
DAKOTA MERMIS - KYLE WOOD
DEFENDING SAN DIEGO: The Roadrunners have struggled in their efforts to clamp down on San Diego’s offense this season, allowing a combined 22 goals against the Gulls in the teams’ previous four meetings. Tucson surrendered a season-high eight goals against San Diego Wednesday night. Can the Roadrunners play a stingy defensive game against the Gulls tonight?
THE LAST TIME AROUND: In the previous meeting between these two clubs on Wednesday night, the Roadrunners fell to the Gulls 8-1 at Tucson Arena. Chris Mueller scored the lone goal for Tucson; Justin Peters made 31 saves in the loss. Anthony Duclair registered an assist on Mueller’s goal in what was his home debut for the Roadrunners in Tucson.
FISCHER’S IN: Christian Fischer, who was assigned to the Roadrunners Friday morning, is expected to be back in Tucson’s lineup tonight. In 31 AHL games this season, he has totaled 32 points (16G, 16A). Fischer will likely play on the right side of Anthony Duclair and Chris Mueller on the team’s first line.
