GLENDALE, AZ – The Tucson Roadrunners return to action this weekend with a pair of games in Glendale, Arizona at Gila River Arena, home of the team’s National Hockey League parent club Arizona Coyotes. Tucson will host the Charlotte Checkers Friday and Saturday night at 7:05 p.m.
The games are counted as home games for the Roadrunners and will give fans a chance to see tomorrow’s NHL stars playing in the building. This weekend also kicks off the unofficial “second half” of the American Hockey League season following the All-Star Break, where Roadrunners Kyle Wood and Christian Fischer both participated in the weekend and each scored three points for the Pacific Division in the round-robin tournament.
As of this weekend, the Roadrunners have 30 games remaining on the regular season schedule (of 68) and are right in the middle of the Pacific Division and Western Conference playoff race with a .592 win percentage. Tucson looks to snap a five-game winless skid against the Checkers, who have posted the second-lowest point total of any team in the Western Division this year.
Fans who wish to attend the games may purchase tickets online through TicketMaster.com or via the Gila River Arena Box Office. Radio coverage will start 15 minutes prior to puck drop on flagship station 1450 KTZR.
