WORK WORK WORK: Tonight marks the 13th instance this season in which the Roadrunners play two games in as many nights. In games Tucson has played in follow-up from a contest the previous night this season, they are 5-5-2-0. The Roadrunners have won both games of back-to-back sets on four occasions this season. Can the Tucson earn their fifth back-to-back sweep with a win tonight?
LINEUP: Due to the back-to-back nature of tonight’s contest, the team held a highly optional morning skate, which consisted heavily of players who will likely not be in tonight’s lineup. The only change expected is to see Anthony DeAngelo slide back into the team’s defensive scheme for Brandon Burlon. Adin Hill is projected to make his 21st start.
BRENDAN RANFORD – CHRIS MUELLER – CHRISTIAN FISCHER
MICHAEL BUNTING – LAURENT DAUPHIN – ANTHONY DUCLAIR
ERIC SELLECK – TYLER GAUDET – BRANDEN TROOCK
MARK OLVER – RYAN MACINNIS – CONOR GARLAND
(STEFAN FOURNIER – TREVOR CHEEK – MITCH MOROZ)
JARRED TINORDI – ZBYNEK MICHALEK
DAKOTA MERMIS – JAMIE MCBAIN
ANTHONY DEANGELO – KYLE WOOD
THE LAST TIME AROUND: In the teams’ previous meeting on Friday night at Gila River Arena, the Roadrunners beat the Checkers 3-2 when Laurent Dauphin netted the game-winner with 21 seconds left in regulation. Kyle Wood scored the first two goals for Tucson. Adin Hill made 37 saves in the win. The Roadrunners are now 1-1-1-0 in three games against Charlotte this season.
MR. ONE THOUSAND: Defenseman Zbynek Michalek played in his 1,000th professional game Friday night. Of those games, 781 of them have come in the NHL, 219 in the AHL. Michalek’s milestone will be recognized during a stoppage of play Saturday night.
ONE BEFORE THE ROAD: Following tonight’s game, the Roadrunners will venture off on a season-long six-game road trip. The Roadrunners have earned 32 of their 47 points earned in the standings this season on home ice. Can Tucson pocket another pair of points before hitting their lengthy tour of opposing buildings?
