BARRACUDA BATTLE: Tonight marks the seventh of eight meetings with the Barracuda this season, and the third of the Roadrunners’ four scheduled visits to San Jose’s SAP Center. The Barracuda are playing the first of a four-game home stand; they’re coming off of a 2-1 overtime victory over the Stockton Heat on Sunday. The Roadrunners are playing the third of a five-game road trip; they’re coming off of a 4-3 loss to the Manitoba Moose on Sunday.
GOT A DIME?: The Roadrunners will be seeking their 10th win in an opposing building this season tonight at SAP Center – one of only two Pacific Division homes they’ve yet to record a victory in. They are 0-2-0-0 on the Barracuda’s ice sheet this year, and 9-17-5-0 away from Tucson Arena.
PROJECTED LINEUP: The team held a morning skate at the SAP Center in anticipation of tonight’s game. It is unknown whether any changes will be made to the lineup the team skated with Sunday afternoon in Manitoba, which is show below. Adin Hill is expected to get the start in net.
MICHAEL BUNTING – CHRIS MUELLER – CHRISTIAN FISCHER
JOE WHITNEY - RYAN MACINNIS - JEREMY MORIN
ERIC SELLECK - TYLER GAUDET - CONOR GARLAND
MITCH MOROZ - TREVOR CHEEK - MARK COOPER
JARRED TINORDI – JAMIE MCBAIN
JALEN SMERECK - DYSIN MAYO
DAKOTA MERMIS – KYLE WOOD
(BRANDON BURLON – DAVID MUSIL – KYLE CAPOBIANCO)
THE LAST TIME AROUND: In the teams’ previous meeting on March 26 at Tucson Arena, the Roadrunners earned a 5-4 shootout victory. The Roadrunners scored four goals in the second period; Chris Mueller (1G, 1A) and Brandon Burlon (1G, 1A) finished the game with two points apiece. Conor Garland and Chris Mueller scored in the shootout. Marek Langhamer made 39 saves in the victory, and also stopped both of San Jose’s shootout attempts.
CAREER-YEAR: Chris Mueller has recorded more points (1G, 4A) against the Barracuda this season than any other player in a Roadrunners uniform. He has points in five of his last six games, totaling 11 points (5G, 6A) during that span. Mueller has 64 points (18G, 46A) on the season; can he continue to find the score sheet tonight in San Jose?
SURPASSING SPRINGFIELD: The Roadrunners have matched the Springfield Falcons’ 60-point mark that the club attained during the 2015-16 campaign, the team’s final season in Massachusetts before relocating to Southern Arizona. The Falcons played a 76-game schedule; they finished with a .395% win percentage. The Roadrunners currently have a .462% win percentage with three games left on their 68-game schedule.
