SET FOR STOCKTON: Tonight marks the eighth and final meeting with the Heat this season, and the fourth of the Roadrunners’ four scheduled visits to Stockton Arena. The Heat are playing the final of a three-game home stand, where they’ve posted a 1-0-1-0 record thus far; they’re coming off of a 2-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors Friday night. The Roadrunners are finishing a five-game road trip, where they’ve gone 2-1-1-0 thus far; they’re coming off of a 4-3 overtime win over the San Jose Barracuda on Thursday.
STREAKY: The Roadrunners will look to string together three consecutive victories for just the fifth time this season with a win tonight. The club has pieced together winning streaks of three games or more on four previous occasions this year.
PROJECTED LINEUP: The team held a morning skate at Stockton Arena in anticipation of tonight’s game. They are expected to skate similar to how they did Thursday night in San Jose, the lines of which are listed below. Marek Langhamer is expected to get the call in net.
MICHAEL BUNTING – CHRIS MUELLER – CHRISTIAN FISCHER
ERIC SELLECK - TYLER GAUDET - CONOR GARLAND
JOE WHITNEY - RYAN MACINNIS - JEREMY MORIN
HUNTER FEJES – GRAYSON DOWNING - MARK COOPER
JARRED TINORDI – JAMIE MCBAIN
DAKOTA MERMIS – KYLE WOOD
KYLE CAPOBIANCO - DYSIN MAYO
(BRANDON BURLON – DAVID MUSIL – JALEN SMERECK)
THE LAST TIME AROUND: In the teams’ previous meeting on January 6 at Stockton Arena, the Roadrunners fell to the Heat in overtime by a 3-2 score. Kyle Wood and Christian Fischer scored for the Roadrunners; Stockton’s Mark Jankowski netted the game-winning goal 1:04 into overtime. Adin Hill made 36 saves in the loss.
IRON MEN: Barring any unforeseen changes made to tonight’s lineup, three players will have dressed for the Roadrunners in every single game this season. Those players are Ryan MacInnis, Chris Mueller, and Kyle Wood – each of who are set to play in their 68th games tonight. Michael Bunting and Dakota Mermis will finish the season with 67 games played.
HEAT INDEX: The Roadrunners have fared quite well against the Heat this season, posting a 5-1-1-0 record in their previous seven match-ups against their Pacific Division counterpart, including a 2-0-1-0 mark at Stockton Arena. The Roadrunners earned their first-ever victory here on October 21, 2016 – when Brendan Perlini clinched a 2-1 overtime victory. Can the Roadrunners close the season out with a win in Stockton tonight?
