TUCSON, AZ - Tucson Roadrunners General Manager Steve Sullivan announced today that the club has signed left wing Zac Larraza to a one-year contract for the 2017-18 American Hockey League season.
Hailing from Scottsdale, Arizona, Larraza was originally selected by the Coyotes in the seventh round (#196 overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. As a junior player the 6-2, 194-pound winger won gold with Team USA as a member of both the Under-17 World Hockey Challenge and Under-18 World Junior Championship squads.
After being drafted by the Coyotes, Larraza went on to play four years at the University of Denver where he ranked fourth on the team in goals his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. He finished his college career with 35 goals, 31 assists and 66 points in 134 games.
Larraza has skated in 41 AHL contests over the past two seasons, notching eight goals and 17 points to go with a plus-3 rating. Last season with the San Diego Gulls he had five goals and four assists for nine points and a plus-7 rating in 17 games.
