TUCSON, AZ – The Tucson Roadrunners, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes, shared today that defenseman Andrew Campbell has been named captain to start the 2017-18 season.
In addition, forwards Mike Sislo and Michael Latta, along with defensemen Dakota Mermis and Joel Hanley will serve as alternate captains on a rotating basis.
Campbell, 29, was the captain of the Toronto Marlies for the past two seasons and was previously the leader of the Manchester Monarchs during the 2012-13 campaign. #2 is entering his 10th professional season of hockey and has participated in post-season play in seven of his nine seasons.
Sislo, 29, is the eldest member of the club and has served as an alternate captain three times in his career thus far. Since the 2014-15 campaign, the Superior, WI native has worn the “A” for the Albany Devils, twice, and the San Antonio Rampage.
Latta, 26, will be taking on the role of alternate captain for the first time in his career. The former Nashville Predators draft selection has played in 113 National Hockey League games, as well as 244 in the AHL.
Mermis, 23, is entering his third pro season and second with the Roadrunners. A former alternate captain of the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights, the 5’11” -187 lbs. defenseman won a Memorial Cup with the Oshawa Generals in 2015.
Hanley, 26, spent a portion of the past two years with the Montreal Canadians. His selection as an alternate captain is the first of his pro career.
