Good morning from Tucson Arena, where the Roadrunners held their first official pregame morning skate of the 2017-18 campaign. They host the San Diego Gulls tonight for a contest scheduled to start at 7:05 PM.
In total, 22 skaters were on the ice with the club this morning, along with all three goaltenders. Per club policy, details regarding the team’s lineup won’t be made public until later in the afternoon.
Tonight marks the first of 12 meetings with the Gulls this season, and the first of six to be played at Tucson Arena. San Diego took the ice for an 11:00 AM morning skate.

Forward Tyler Gaudet shared a few thoughts following the morning skate:
Tyler Gaudet, on the feelings surrounding Opening Night:
It’s definitely exciting to finally get a game in here, it’s been a long time here with just practices, and then preseason, so the guys are all excited to finally be able to play the first game.
Gaudet, on the Opening Night atmosphere:
Yeah it was great [last year], it was a packed house, so it was really loud, it was exciting, the fans were excited to have hockey here in Tucson, so I’m assuming the same thing [for tonight], they’re great and they’re going to be loud again.
Gaudet, on facing San Diego:
It’s a clean slate, so it’s a new year for everyone, so obviously we want to start off good and get a win here tonight. Just like them, they don’t know what to expect from us, so we’ve got to come out on top of our game and be ready to come out right at the beginning.
More to come from a beautiful and busy Opening Night game day in Tucson, Arizona.
