Game Recap: Tucson (4) at San Jose (3) (SO)

San Jose, California – The Tucson Roadrunners won their fourth consecutive game and earned their second-straight series sweep Saturday with a 4-3 shootout victory against the San Jose Barracuda. Forward Mike Carcone factored into all three regulation scores with a goal and two assists, while goaltender Jon Gillies made 38 saves and went a perfect three-for-three in the shootout. Tucson extends their current winning streak to four games, as they’ll head north to Calgary to face the Wranglers for the first time in franchise history starting on Wednesday.

The Barracuda took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, before Tucson answered back with the next five goals to close out the contest. Roadrunners goaltender Ivan Prosvetov stopped 38 of 39 shots faced for his third win through three starts this season, while Mike Carcone, Jean-Sebastien Dea, Cam Dineen, Adam Cracknell, Jan Jenik, and Laurent Dauphin all extended their scoring streaks to three outings or more.

Game #5 – Roadrunners At Barracuda

The Roadrunners head out on the road after their 2-0 home stand to take on the San Jose Barracuda in a two-game set at the new Tech CU Arena. Tucson enters the series tied for third in the AHL’s Pacific Division at 3-1-0-0, while the Barracuda are coming off their first loss of the season, a 2-1 defeat against the Ontario Reign at home on Wednesday to fall to second place at 4-1-0-0. Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners wrapped up their opening home stand of the season Sunday with their second of two meetings with the Bakersfield Condors. Roadrunners forward Laurent Dauphin posted the first hat trick of his AHL career as Tucson won by a count of 5-3 for the second-straight game. The win gave the Roadrunners a two-game sweep of the Condors and improved their overall record on the season to 3-1-0-0. Goaltender Jon Gillies made his home debut as a Roadrunner and earned his first win for Tucson with 23 saves.

The Roadrunners wrap up their first home stand of the season Sunday afternoon at the Tucson Arena with the second of two matchups with the Bakersfield Condors, AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers. Tucson improved to 2-1-0-0 with a 5-3 win over Bakersfield on Saturday, handing the Condors their first regulation loss of the season. The Roadrunners will look to sweep the Condors for their fourth-straight win at home dating back to April of last season.

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners returned from the road Saturday for Opening Night presented by the Arizona Daily Star. In front of an electric Tucson Arena crowd of 4,576, the Roadrunners took down the Bakersfield Condors by a score of 5-3. The win was fueled by a four-goal second period to pull away from the Edmonton Oilers AHL affiliate, as well as a 16-save opening frame by Tucson netminder Ivan Prosvetov. Prosvetov went on to record 28 saves to improve to a 2-0 individual on the season.

Game #3 – Condors at Roadrunners

The Roadrunners are back at the Tucson Arena Saturday night to host the Bakersfield Condors as part of Opening Night presented by the Arizona Daily Star. The day starts with the traditional Roadrunners Red Carpet Reception at 4 p.m. to welcome the players back, followed by puck drop at 7 p.m. There will be a Food Drive for Impact of Southern Arizona, and the first 1,500 fans to arrive can receive a Roadrunners Rally Towel courtesy of Williams & Associates. Tucson enters the weekend with a 1-1-0-0 record after splitting the opening series of the season in Henderson against the Silver Knights, while Bakersfield is off to a 2-0-1-0 record to start the year.

Henderson, Nevada – The Tucson Roadrunners faced off with the Henderson Silver Knights Saturday afternoon at The Dollar Loan Center for their second-straight meeting to open the season. After taking game one Friday night with a 2-1 win, the Roadrunners fell to the Silver Knights in the series finale by a score of 6-2. Backstops Jon Gillies and Ivan Prosvetov both spent time in net for Tucson, with Prosvetov stopping 13 of 14 shots faced in relief. Returning Roadrunner Mike Carcone tallied assists on each of Tucson’s two goals for the team’s first multi-point night of the season.

Game #2 – Roadrunners At Silver Knights

The Roadrunners wrap up the opening series of the 2022-2023 season Saturday afternoon with another matchup against the Henderson Silver Knights at The Dollar Loan Center. Tucson took the first game of the set Friday night by a score of 2-1 for their fifth consecutive Opening Night victory, as they’ll now look to start the year 2-0 for the second time in three years. The Roadrunners also have a chance to win their fourth-straight regular-season contest against the Silver Knights dating back to last year, when they swept the Vegas Golden Knights AHL affiliate March 25 and 26 in their last trip to the Silver State.

Henderson, Nevada – The Tucson Roadrunners kicked off the 2022-2023 AHL regular season with a 2-1 win over the Henderson Silver Knights, AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights. All three goals in the contest were scored in the second period of play, with forwards Milos Kelemen and Tyson Empey providing the offense for Tucson. Ivan Prosvetov was in net for Tucson as he began his fourth year in the organization by stopping 29 shots for his third-straight victory on Opening Night.

The Roadrunners open the 2022-2023 regular season Friday night with the first of back-to-back matchups against the Henderson Silver Knights, AHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights. The contest marks the first of 72 total games on the season, up from last season’s 68 for AHL Pacific Division squads. Tucson takes on the Silver Knights after splitting a pair of preseason matchups last weekend, with the Roadrunners outscoring Henderson six goals to four overall.
