Tucson Roadrunners Road Ahead: Not Fooling Around In April

The Roadrunners return home to open the month of April with four games in the span of six days at the Tucson Arena. Tucson will play host to the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, the Rockford IceHogs for the first time since the 2018-2019 season with a pair of contests Friday and Saturday night. The Roadrunners enter the series after back-to-back wins over the Henderson Silver Knights, while the IceHogs come into town after a midweek matchup with the Milwaukee Admirals Tuesday night in Rockford.

Dusty To Host Fun At Bookmans Wednesday

Tucson, Arizona - Tucson Roadrunners Mascot Dusty will be at Bookmans Entertainment Exchange on Speedway BLVD from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 for a read-long, crafts and he will also be handing out free tickets to upcoming games and Roadrunners giveaways.

Tucson Roadrunners Road Ahead: Rounding Out The Month On The Road

The Roadrunners head out on the road this week for a three-game trip to close out the month of March. The trip begins Wednesday night in California, as Tucson will face off against their I-8 Border Rivals, the San Diego Gulls for the first time since the start of February. The season series against the Gulls is currently even at two wins apiece, with four total meetings left in the regular season. The last time Tucson was in San Diego, forward Mike Carcone recorded his first of two hat tricks this season in a 5-4 win on Saturday, February 5. The Roadrunners will then travel to Las Vegas to take on the Henderson Silver Knights for the final two times this season at the Orleans Arena Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26. After the three-game trip, Tucson will only have five road matchups left on their schedule compared to eight games remaining on their home ice.

Tucson Roadrunners Road Ahead: Back Home With The Barracuda

The Roadrunners return to Tucson for the first home games in the month of March. They’ll play host to the San Jose Barracuda at the Tucson Arena for the first time since the opening weekend of the 2020-2021 season. The Roadrunners have faced the Barracuda three times this season, most recently on Sunday, March 6. In the game, forward Mike Carcone scored for the 23rd time this season to match a franchise record for goals in a season. Tucson has won seven of their last eight meetings with San Jose on home ice, dating back to the 2018-2019 season.

The Roadrunners close out their five-game road trip with a pair of matchups against the Texas Stars Friday and Saturday at the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas. The series wraps up a stretch that saw Tucson travel to Ontario, Bakersfield and San Jose to take on Pacific Division rivals last Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. The weekend also marks the Roadrunners first out of division matchups since taking on the Iowa Wild in November. Maccelli Named February’s AHL Rookie Of The Month

Tucson, Arizona - The American Hockey League announced Tuesday afternoon that Tucson Roadrunners forward Matias Maccelli has been named February’s AHL Rookie of the Month. The announcement marks the second time this season that Maccelli has been named Rookie of the Month after also winning the award in November.

Tucson Roadrunners Road Ahead: Reign On The Road

The Roadrunners open the month of March on the road for a five-game trip across California and Texas, beginning on Wednesday, March 2 against the Ontario Reign. The matchup with the Reign will mark the eighth and final meeting between these teams on the season. The game will conclude a stretch of three games in five days with the Reign after back-to-back matchups with the Los Angeles Kings AHL affiliate last weekend in Tucson. The Roadrunners and Reign have seen some high-scoring battles this season, with the six combined goals in Sunday’s contest representing the lowest total on the season. Saturday’s 6-5 Roadrunners victory was the fourth time in the first six meetings that Tucson and Ontario combined for double-digit goals.

Matias Maccelli Gets Call From Coyotes

Tucson, Arizona - The Arizona Coyotes announced Monday morning that they had recalled forward Matias Maccelli from the Tucson Roadrunners. The 21-year-old had 55 points (14g 41a) in 42 games with Tucson this season at the time of his recall. He currently ranks third in the American Hockey League for assists and total points, while leading all rookies in both categories.
