Roadrunners Sign Brandon Holt to PTO and AHL Deal for 2026-27 Season

TUCSON, AZ – The Tucson Roadrunners, American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Utah Mammoth, announced today the signing of University of Maine defenseman Brandon Holt to a one-year AHL contract for the 2026-27 season and to a professional tryout agreement (PTO) for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

Brandon will add mobility, skill and strong hockey sense to our blue line.”

Holt, 24, recently completed his senior season at Maine, where he served as team captain and earned Hockey East First Team All-Star honors. He recorded career highs in goals, assists and points with 32 points (6g, 26a), along with eight penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-12 rating in 35 NCAA games.

The 5-foot-11, 181-pound left-shot defenseman also led the league with 18 assists in conference play and ranked third in total points with 23. He became the first Maine defenseman to record a 30-point season since Ben Hutton (33) in 2011-12. Holt was also named Hockey East’s Best Defensive Defenseman and was the co-recipient of the Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award, presented by the league to one player who has consistently demonstrated superior conduct and sportsmanship on and off the ice. He is just the third player in program history to earn the conference’s top defensive defenseman honor and the first since Prestin Ryan in 2003-04.

Over his four-year collegiate career at Maine, Holt totaled 78 points (18g, 60a), a plus-34 rating and 40 PIM in 126 games. He was also named a Hockey East Third Team All-Star as a junior in 2024-25. Notably, Holt is the only Hockey East defenseman in the last 20 seasons to record at least 75 career points while registering 40 or fewer penalty minutes.

Prior to Maine, Holt spent three seasons in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) with the New Mexico Ice Wolves, where he recorded 71 points (21g, 50a) in 160 games.
