Q: Have you had any food service experience before Monday?

Honestly, no, I’ve done a couple of events like that in the past, just with some other teams I’ve been on. But nothing quite like that where it was a competition.  We were just kind of helping out the servers at those. I think when we first went in yesterday, we were pretty structured. And then some of the boys started taking our tables. So, then it was kind of a free-for-all. That’s how I ran into Kim and we kind of started going around and meeting some other people. I thought we were just assigned to one section and then we had guys bringing the food to our tables and it was kind of a little friendly competition after that.

Q: How was that six-game in nine-day stretch? Pretty crazy?

It definitely has been. I mean, six games and nine days with some travel sprinkled in there. Obviously, Abbotsford is not an easy trip to make, going up and flying over the border there, so it was a long couple weeks, but you know we just took it one game at a time. I think that our mindset was just to focus on the task at hand, kind of be where our feet were and obviously now we’ve made it through.

Q: What have you been up to in these past few days after that crazy stretch?

Not a whole lot. In the past couple days, I watched the (Buffalo) Bills lose. I was upset, I’m a Bills fan. I’m right in their neck of the woods in Ontario. So really close back home. But other than that, not a whole lot. It’s just a lot of relaxing, recharging. I played the guitar a little bit. I went and picked up a new guitar over that time and had something to do. I’m living in a hotel right now, so it’s been a little bit of a grind, just finding ways to get through it. And sometimes the days off can be a little longer. So, just find stuff that you like to do, get the mind off of hockey and kind of come in with a fresh mindset. So, the guitar helps me do that.

Q: How about this year for you? You were on a first place team in Idaho (ECHL), now Tucson is in first place as well, and you’ve had a great record in net

Thank you. It’s been a lot of fun. This is definitely one of the closest teams I’ve ever been a part of. I’ve said it from the day I got here, you can definitely just feel it when you walk in. Everybody loves being around each other, coming to work together every day, everybody wants to get better and ultimately it’s the same goal. It makes it a lot of fun and it makes everybody’s job easier when you have everybody beside you going out for you. And it’s been fun. It’s been a good ride so far. So halfway there, you have to keep it going now.

Q: When was the first time you met the team? Thanksgiving dinner?

Yeah, that was the first night I met everybody. I flew in and walked right into a Thanksgiving dinner, got to meet everybody, have a great dinner, and kind of get introduced to the team and the staff. From there on, it’s been great. So, I’ve loved my time here so far.
