Game Recap: Ontario (4) at Tucson (3) (OT)

Tucson, Arizona – The Tucson Roadrunners opened a four-game home stand Friday night against the Ontario Reign, AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings. The Roadrunners and Reign traded goals through regulation before a power-play strike by Ontario secured a 4-3 overtime win for the visiting team, as Tucson earned a standings point in overtime for the second-straight game. Tucson Captain Adam Cracknell factored into all three of the Roadrunners goals with his first three-point night of the season, and third-straight multi-point outing. The Roadrunners fall to 10-7-3-0 and will wrap up the weekend set with Ontario Saturday night at 7 p.m. Ahead of Saturday’s Teddy Bear Toss, hundreds of toys were donated as fans entered Tucson Arena Friday night that Mascot Dusty will deliver to Banner Health’s Diamond Children’s Medical Center on Monday. Saturday’s series finale will also be televised live in Southern Arizona on The CW Tucson, with Tucson.com’s Brett Fera joining “Voice of the Roadrunners” Adrian Denny for the broadcast.

Game #20 – Reign at Roadrunners

The 10-7-2-0 Tucson Roadrunners are back at the Tucson Arena Friday night to kick off a four-game home stand, beginning with a two-game set against the Ontario Reign. Tucson and the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings will meet for the third time this season at 7 p.m. to open the series. The Roadrunners are back home after a five-game road trip that included a stop in Ontario for a pair of matchups at the Toyota Arena Friday, November 26 and Saturday, November 27. While Tucson has been off since Sunday, the Reign are coming off of a 3-1 loss on their home ice to the Henderson Silver Knights on Wednesday, December 7.

Game Recap: Tucson (3) at San Jose (4) (OT)

San Jose, California – The Tucson Roadrunners faced off with the San Jose Barracuda Sunday night for the final outing of their five-game road trip. The Roadrunners erased a late 3-2 deficit to force overtime, but the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks netted the game winner for a 4-3 victory in the series finale from the Tech CU Arena. Adam Cracknell (1g 1a), Mike Carcone (1g 1a) and Cam Dineen (2a) all tallied multiple points for Tucson, while goaltender Ivan Prosvetov recorded 28 saves. The Roadrunners finish the five-game road trip with a 2-2-1-0 record and will return home for a four-game home stand at 10-7-2-0 overall on the season.

Game #19 – Roadrunners at Barracuda

The 10-7-1-0 Tucson Roadrunners wrap up their five-game road trip and weekend set with the San Jose Barracuda Sunday afternoon at the Tech CU Arena in San Jose. The matchup will be the sixth meeting between Tucson and the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks this year, with the Roadrunners currently up three wins to two in the season series. After Sunday, Tucson and San Jose won’t meet again until the final two games of the 2022-2023 campaign on April 14 and 15 at the Tucson Arena. The Barracuda took the series opener at the Tech CU Arena Saturday night by a score of 4-2 for their first series-opening win against Tucson this year. Sunday’s game also represents the Roadrunners second game in the last seven days, while San Jose will be taking their home ice for the fourth time in six days.

San Jose, California – The Tucson Roadrunners began a two-game set with the San Jose Barracuda Saturday night at the Tech CU Arena, as the two teams met for the fifth time this season. The Roadrunners led for 32:28 of the contest before the Barracuda netted three power-play goals to come away with a 4-2 victory on their home ice, moving Tucson to 10-7-1-0 on the season. Roadrunners goaltender Jon Gillies was perfect for the first 38:17 of the night and finished with 32 saves, while Captain Adam Cracknell notched a multi-point night with assists on both Tucson goals.

Game #18 – Roadrunners at Barracuda

The 10-6-1-0 Tucson Roadrunners open a two-game weekend set with the San Jose Barracuda Saturday night at the Tech CU Arena in San Jose. The series will mark Tucson’s final trip to the Bay Area this season and the final two games on their five-game road trip across California. The Roadrunners enter the weekend with the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks having won two of their first three outings on the road trip, while the Barracuda are coming off a pair of midweek matchups with the Iowa Wild Tuesday and Wednesday to kick off a six-game home stand. The Wild won both games in San Jose by scores of 4-3 and 5-3.

Ontario, California – The Tucson Roadrunners met with the Ontario Reign for the second-straight evening at the Toyota Arena on Sunday. Despite a three-goal third period, the Roadrunners fell to the Reign by a score of 4-3 to split the weekend set with the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings. J.S. Dea extended his team lead for goals with his ninth tally of the season, while Laurent Dauphin (1g 1a) and Cam Dineen (2a) notched multiple-point performances. Goaltender Ivan Prosvetov was in net for his first start of the season against Ontario, as he stopped 26 shots for his fourth consecutive outing with at least 26 saves made. After winning two of the first three contests on this five-game road trip, Tucson is now 10-6-1-0 on the season and will return home for a week of practice before facing the San Jose Barracuda Saturday and Sunday at the Tech CU Arena.

Game #17 – Roadrunners at Reign

The 10-5-1-0 Tucson Roadrunners wrap up their weekend series with the Ontario Reign Sunday afternoon at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, as Tucson seeks their third-straight win to open a five-game road trip. The Roadrunners took care of business in the series opener with the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings Saturday night with a 3-1 win that saw Tucson lead for the final 38:13 of regulation. A win Sunday would tie the Roadrunners with Coachella Valley for the most road wins in the AHL’s Pacific Division this season with seven, and would improve their Division-best .750 winning percentage as the away team.

Ontario, California – The Tucson Roadrunners improved to 10-5-1-0 on the season Saturday night with a 3-1 win over the Ontario Reign on the road. The win gave Tucson their tenth win on the season, as they became the third team in the AHL’s Pacific Division to reach double-digit wins on the year (Colorado, Calgary). The Roadrunners tallied a power-play goal on three total chances against the Reign while holding Ontario to just one chance on the man-advantage. Tucson netminder Jon Gillies stopped 31 of 32 shots faced for his best save percentage of the season at .969.

Game #16 – Roadrunners at Reign

The 9-5-1-0 Tucson Roadrunners reach the second stop of their five-game road trip Saturday night, as they’ll begin a two-game series with the Ontario Reign. Saturday marks the first meeting between the Roadrunners and the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, as Tucson and Ontario enter the series with near identical records of 9-5-1-0 and 9-5-0-1, respectively. The Roadrunners come into their final two games of November having won three of their last four contests, while the Reign carry a winning streak of two games into Saturday night.

Game Recap: Tucson (3) at San Diego (1)

San Diego, California – The Tucson Roadrunners took on their I-8 Border Rivals, the San Diego Gulls, for the first time this season Wednesday night at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego. The Roadrunners led for the final 53:05 of the contest to come away with a 3-1 win over the Gulls to improve to 9-5-1-0 on the season. Tucson goaltender Ivan Prosvetov earned his sixth win of the season with 30 saves, as he kept the AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks off the scoreboard for the opening 57:36 of Wednesday’s matchup.

Game #15 – Roadrunners at Gulls

The 8-5-1-0 Tucson Roadrunners head out on the road to begin a five-game road trip across the state of California. The first stop on the trip is Wednesday night at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, as Tucson will take on the 6-10-0-0 San Diego Gulls for the first time this season to reignite the I-8 Border Rivalry. The Roadrunners take a nearly identical roster into the start of the road trip, with the only recent move being that the Arizona Coyotes have assigned forward Liam Kirk from the Roadrunners to the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL.
